About us
The Pink Box is a foundation that aims to fight menstrual exclusion, provide universal access to free menstrual hygiene products in public spaces, and access reliable menstrual education at school. We are trying to abolish the taboo on menstruation in Poland, including both women and men in the discussion. We are loudly talking about the need for ecological and healthy solutions for the period of menstruation.
Since December 2019, when the first pink box filled with sanitary pads was hung at the Women's Rights Center in Wrocław, we have managed to place over 4,000 of them in the public space! Today, pink boxes are found in schools, dormitories, educational institutions, hospitals, cinemas, libraries and theaters. More local governments join the action - Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Trzebnica poviat, Krotoszyn, Kołobrzeg, Olsztyn, Legnica are just some of them.
We are supported by specific people, local communities and non-governmental organizations, and in Poland there are more and more places where sanitary pads are available on a par with toilet paper.
A handful of periodic facts:
The data comes from a report prepared for the Kulczyk Foundation, available for download here.
Near 500,000 people in Poland cannot afford to buy tampon pads.
21% students are forced to leave school due to the lack of a sanitary napkin,
and 10% at all he does not leave the house for this.
42% of families do not talk about their period at home, 43% of teenagers avoid the topic of their period with their father.
